What is medical counselor?
Imagine a visit to your health care provider:
that wasn’t rushed
where all your questions were answered
who was able to bridge modern medicine, nutraceuticals, herbalism and other alternative forms of medicine
where he or she understood the importance of nutrition, and could explain it to you
This is the medical counseling experience.
Medical counselors are health counselors with credentials. Also called health coaches. they are people who are trained in many different aspects of health and wellness. Counselors and coaches are able to seamlessly weave together all components of life - body, mind and soul - in order to effect true healing. A medical counselor has the significant benefit of formal medical training. Many counselors lack a foundation in modern medicine. A medical counselor can answer questions about laboratory results and pharmaceutical medications, understands food as medicine, holds value in the power of herbs and energy as a real medical modality.
Dr. Hare is a board-certified Family Medicine physician trained in Functional Medicine, Ayurveda and herbalism. This East/West fused practice provides a truly integrative medical experience that promotes balance by addressing the three domains of life: body, mind and soul.
Private Sessions
What happens in a session?
Sessions are based entirely on the individual. What to expect depends on what you're working on. Some clients want more of a functional medicine focus with discussion surrounding review of past medical history, review of previous medical work ups, supplements etc. Others are looking for a pure Ayurvedic approach. This can include herbal recommendations, movement and meditation practices. Diet is always a core concept.
